New Milton signed off at Fawcetts for the season in fine form on Saturday as they put local rivals Verwood to the sword and completed a double over them for the season.

The early stages were action packed for the Linnets with player manager Shane Sheridan feeling aggrieved not to have opened the scoring with his first few attempts but he turned provider, slotting to Adam Louka who smashed home right footed.

Chances kept coming for New Milton as Nathan Gray should have done better one on one with the Potters Stopper. Verwood capitalised on a rare attack slamming home after some poor marking.

Louka then returned the favour crossing deep for Sheridan to power in a close range header to leave things 2-1 at half time.

The second half was end to end with chances squandered for both sides until Dan O'Sullivans neat footwork saw him downed in the box and Nathan Gray scored on his home debut from the spot to secure all three points.

New Milton Reserves also beat East Cowes Victoria in the Wyvern League and put themselves back into third place. Goals from James Francis and Kieran Francis sealed the win 2-0.

New Milton Veterans are also now one win away from the Dorset Veterans Title after beating Cobham Sports 8-1 on Sunday morning.  Chris Samuels bagged a hat-trick while there were singles for Rob Woolner, James Bailey-Pearce, Dave Wrixton, Charlie Pearson and Mike Laronde. Just three points is required from the remaining three games to secure the title.
