The pitch at the Clayfields Sports Centre, like many others at the moment, was struggling from recent weather and the game was going to be a tough one for all involved.

Despite this, there were several decent chances throughout. Lewis Danquah drilled a shot for Hythe against the New Milton crossbar, Steve Flynn had a shot cleared off the line for the Linnets and both goalkeepers had to make good saves.

However, the Linnets would eventually go ahead with less than 10 minutes to go as Brad Aspin latched onto a failed Hythe clearance and fired his side in front. He added a second less than two minutes later, winning possession near the half way line, driving towards goal and doubling his sides lead from there.

Lyam Texciera would be given a second yellow card and a red for an apparent barge in the back of Marcel Laptas, which was spotted by the assistant referee off the ball, but Hythe couldn't take advantage and New Milton held on for the 2-0 win.
