Southampton's opposition for the final would be a brave Gosport Borough side who suffered early on in the miserable conditions.

The Portsmouth-based team would concede a corner within a handful of minutes, allowing Chloe Newton to eventually put away her side's opening goal following a scramble in the area.

Gosport would then have a key chance less than 90 seconds later but Gemma Hillier couldn't take full advantage and watched in dismay as her effort bounced off the Southampton FC post.

From there, Saints would enjoy the majority of the game's chances thanks to the brilliance of midfielder Phoebe Williams, who rightly earned the Woman of the Match award, but it was the efforts of goalkeeper Roxy Roberts that kept this final as a contest, making a string of superb saves throughout the 90 minutes.

Ultimately it would be Southampton who saw the game out in stoppage time as Caitlin Collighan put away the decisive goal from close range following a corner, allowing the Saints to finally see off plucky Gosport Borough and win the cup.
