In an even contest with few chances, Lymington would take the lead shortly after half time as Ross Bottomley connected with Owen Fee's cross.

The Lymington skipper originally decided to hang back for the decisive corner but his team-mates request for him to push forwards resulted in the only goal of the game.

Horndean dominated most of the possession in the first half but both sides could only a muster a handful of chances.  The away side appealed for a penalty midway through the first set of 45 minutes, with Lymington also having one turned down before the break.

The result leaves Lymington in 7th but 8th place Horndean have four games in hand. The home side do have a Southampton Senior Cup game to look forward to against Premier League side Southampton ('s Development team).
