Hurstwood flew out of the blocks in this game and within six minutes they had a two goal lead. Trent Groizard would score both before he completed his hat-trick midway through the first half.

Pickwick tried to get themselves back into the game before the break but Hurstwood were controlling much of the possession and soon put away a fourth goal thanks to Teddy Beveridge.

At 4-0 down, you could have forgiven Pickwick for giving up. However, they dug deep and tried to fight back into the game throughout the second half.

Blaze Pearce turned in Daniel Aitken's free kick to score their first before Alex Hulme made the score 4-2 a few minutes later. Pickwick could have put themselves within one as the referee awarded them a penalty.

Lloyd Britcher would not only save the penalty but a handful of other Pickwick chances as well, helping his defence to soak up the second half pressure and see out the final.

Pickwick can be proud of their spirited comeback in the second half but Hurstwood had certainly earned their victory with clinical finishing and resolute defending.
