Both sides would hit the woodwork in the first half. Basingstoke Town's Marcus Johnston-Schuster did so first before Ashleigh Artwell did the same with the follow up header.

Jake McCarthy's long range drive 10 minutes later was the closest Bournemouth would get to scoring as he left the Basingstoke bar shaking.

The main talking points in this game would arrive at the death. First, a clear handball, although under little pressure, from inside the area led to Basingstoke appeals for a penalty which were waved away by the referee.

Cherries 'keeper Callum Stanton, who had been superb all game, then fumbled a shot and had to dive and fling it away from goal, with the SCJ replay camera angle showing that the ball seemingly crossed the line.

However, this final would be decided with a penalty shoot-out and two big saves from Alex Tokarczyk won the day for Basingstoke.
