Football for Cancer had the greater number of chances in the first half and soon found themselves in front as a long throw into the box fell at the feet of an unmarked James Hird.

They were then 2-0 up with half time approaching as Russell Stanley sent a free kick in off the post.

Shane Flooks would pull a goal back for the Dragons in first half injury time but Hird scored his second minutes after the restart, putting them 3-1 in front.

Fine saves from Connor Rothwell and late stand in James Magee left the score at 3-1 until the 89th minute where the later brought down Flooks in the box, leaving his side with 10 men and facing a penalty.

Flooks would score from the spot before both sides had a man sent off for an off camera scuffle and, just minutes later, Flooks pounced on a failed clearance to drag his side level at the death.

Rothwell would then provide the cup final winning moment as he saved Danny Boyle's penalty.
