The home side opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Mark Claremont’s cross field ball dropped just over the head of New Milton full back Tom Gagan, allowing Stone to strike the ball sweetly in to the top corner of keeper Kieran Burgess’ goal.

New Milton almost replied immediately when forward Rico Wilson saw his direct header saved expertly by Christchurch keeper Max Frampton. However the home side doubled their advantage in the 38th minute when eventual man of the match Matt Neale, took the ball wide, dropped his shoulder and thundered a strike into the back of the net to make the score 2-0 just before half time.

Stone wrapped up the win for the home side in the 77th minute when he scored his second, his side’s third goal, from a well worked corner to ensure there was no way back for New Milton.

The game really came alive in the second half starting with New Milton having the ball in the net in the 56th minute of the game, however the goal was disallowed for what was judged to be an unfair challenge on keeper Frampton. Four minutes later, New Milton’s Wilson just missed a header at the far post, a goal then could have put the visitors back in the game.

Wilson was proving himself to be a nuisance in the box for his side when he had a headed effort cleared off the line. Moments later, the faintest of touches by Christchurch centre back David Legg took Brad Aspins’ looping cross just off the head of Wilson as he charged in at the back post.

Christchurch also had their chances in the second half, first Stone was denied a sure goal my an impressive reaction save from Burgess. Then Sean McCoy found himself one on one with the onrushing Linnet's keeper, only to see his shot saved by the outstretched keeper. The missed chances were not to matter though, as Stone went on to score to wrap up the game for his side.
