The 2017 Newport Rowing Regatta will be running with an adjusted schedule this year due to an events clash on the rivers limited space.

In previous years, the club have run a fours only regatta on the Saturday before holding the small boats section of the regatta on the Sunday.

However, the Medina Valley Centre, based roughly half way down the regatta course, are set to hold a charity event using a portion of the course and have reached a "point of no return" in regards to the organisation of the event.

Information released by the Hampshire and Dorset Rowing Association indicated that Newport proposed to run the small boats and junior regatta on the Saturday as those races take place over a shorter course, with the fours racing taking place on the Sunday instead.

However, the space available on the river would still not be sufficient and Newport have been forced to cancel the small boats and junior regatta. The fours only part of the weekend will now take place on the Sunday.
