The second regatta of the 2017 HDARA season took place on Sunday as Shanklin and Sandown hosted 12 clubs from the Hampshire and Dorset regions.

Highlights of the regatta are available in the posted video. To order a copy of extended race footage of the full regatta video, please visit our Online Store (click here for the direct link).

The host club would have a successful start to the morning as sisters Daisy and Emily Faithful took the opening win of the regatta.

The race officials then did well to warn a large fleet of jet ski's off the course, allowing some interesting racing to take place across the men's sculls categories next.

Junior scullers Dale Buckett and Jack Rose were barely separated before Adam Ratcliffe won the battle of the former junior scull champions trying to win senior after race leader James Foad capsized.

The Men's Novice Sculls final had an interesting finale as well. Will Mahoney took the win after Alex Murphy caught a crab, but the Southsea man caught one himself before crossing the line.

The ladies racing was less dramatic but was close for the majority of their races, with the Ladies Masters and Junior Fours finals being decided by just a few lengths.

The blue ribbon event, the Men's Senior Fours, completed the weekend with little fuss as Itchen secured two comfortable victories.
