Last week, the Isle of Wight hosted Lendy Cowes Week, an annual event that is often described as being a "festival of sailing".

South Coast Journalism, using video provided by Sunset+Vine, have produced a feature video on the week.

In varying weather conditions at Cowes Week, over 40 fleets raced in the Solent. They included dinghies all the way through to trimarans and the Volvo Ocean Race yachts.

The south coast enjoyed plenty of success for it's sailors but one particular highlight was for Hamble's Annabel Vose, a member of the Youth America's Cup winning Land Rover BAR team, who was presented with the ELEMIS Ladies Day trophy for outstanding contribution, commitment or achievement for women in sailing.

Perhaps the biggest news took place on Wednesday as Leg 0 of the Volvo Ocean race began in high wind speeds.

MAPFRE took the race win and, in gusts of up to 40 knots, set a new Round the Island World Monohull record. In fact, places second to fourth all beat the previous record as well.
