Southampton Women FC have secured a league double this season as their first team were crowned SRWFL Premier Division champions with two games in hand.

It follows on from the Southampton Reserves winning the HCWFL Division One crown a few weeks ago.

Southampton top the Southern Region Women’s League Premier by a single point but have two games in hand, whilst second place Oxford City have played all 16 fixtures.

Southampton’s league winning victory took place on Sunday as they squeezed past third place Chesham United 1-0, ending the laters chances of finishing as runners up as well.

Laura Gilbank’s goal in the final ten minutes saw Southampton collect the three points and win the league.

Southampton Women now have a SRWFL League Cup final to look forward to against Oxford City in early May and were runners up in the Hampshire FA Challenge Cup.

Between both the women’s first team and reserves, Southampton Women have lost just one league game all season.

The first team lost to Oxford earlier in the campaign whilst the reserves won all 18 games in the HCWFL Division One.
